My dad is wanting to buy me an ipod for christmas as he couldn't think of anything to get me (not that I 'm bothered if I don't get anything, after all I am now 27 and have kids of my own that he has spent a fortune on). I've heard a lot of bad things about ipods and have been looking at something like this.
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=424234&tab=specification
I have a feeling this is the ipod he's been looking at
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=417173
Can anyone offer any help.

Hi,
i dont know what you meant when you mentioned "heard a lot of bad things about ipods"

It's not the health problems, it's more their reliability.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Ipods are great, hardware wise. If the software was as good as the hardware they'd be brilliant. Itunes lets it down.0

Never had a problem with their reliability, we have several in our family, and they are fantastic, I've had various brands over the years, but once I tried an iPod I'd never go back. They are beautifully made, fantastic interface, and in our experience utterly reliable.
I personally like iTunes very much too, I use them on both our Macs and PCs and find it an excellent piece of software. If you really hate it, you can also use something like Media Monkey instead.
Eventually the batteries will die and need replacing (as yet this hasn't happened to me on my 3 year old Nano, and our others are all fine too), but there are plenty of third party companies that can do this for a very small fee. (such as http://www.fix-my-ipod.co.uk/ipod_repair_home.asp)
We are so impressed with them, that we brought yet another Shuffle for a family member this Christmas, so we have quite a few to try and compare - all problem free.
Independent tests also rate them highly, many versions win best buys or recommended in the Gadget press (like T3 and the Gadget Show).
The new Nano you picked out in your link comes highly recommended. The advantage of the Samsung one you pick is that it also has a FM radio, but there are plenty of iPod add-ons you can buy if you want this functionality too.0 -
aged 27 what's wrong with that, I'm 58 and have just bought a Creative Zen V 4 gig , coz it's cheaper than I pod and is quite impressive, I have managed to load 977 songs on to it with over a third storage left."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

Nothing wrong with being 27 or any other age.
Was just pointing out that at 27 I'm not bothered if my dad buys this or not, afterall, I think I've had more than enough of him for the past 27 years.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
