PAYG Gas Topup - That's never happened before!
Might be one for the meter experts. Sorry the post is a little long but I wanted to try to cover it all.
I do intend to call the supplier Monday anyway about this.
Brought a £10 topup voucher Saturday. Meter was in the E-Credit but only by a few pence.
No previous or other debt owed. Paid that off months ago. No issues with topups.
I normally 'wake' it up by pressing 'A' once , then when the units total appears, I insert the card.
Upon inserting the card this time, there was no bleep. The screen did say "£10 on card , Press A" (or very similar) however no response from either button, even after waiting about ten seconds.
I removed the card at this point and upon doing so it did the usual "0.30 for gas , 0.27 for Debt" (I do not recall the exact figures)
Meter now showed a positive credit of 9.75 , which was expected.
Curious as to why it didn't bleep, I put the card back in again. This time it said (again!) £10 on card etc, I pressed the button and it added it again.
I did not think this was possible... Balance then showed £19.75
I double checked through all the screens the last 'credit' given for assistance was about 3 months ago and there was no debt present anyway (aside the few pence from Friday for the E.C)
I'm going to tell them anyway (some might say no) because if I do not they'll see that its gained an extra £10 from somewhere.
The receipt did say £10 too. I still have it.
A bizarre occurrence. I've had these type of meters for ages and I used to help a neighbour top-up hers on occasion too and its the first time I've ever seen it do a "double"
Conventional 'credit card' size card for the meter. Card is about six months old. Pic of meter type attached (randomly found)

FWIW... A small follow up...Was half hoping one of the 'meter' experts might have a comment but if not OK.Spoke to the supplier Monday, carefully explained it as I've written above. They thought it was me I think, but they did say the calls were recorded (which I knew) so if anything did crop up etc etc...I double checked the readings as far as I could tell too. The last 'help me out for a couple of weeks please' credit was last year anyway and long ago paid off.I mentioned I was worried as its looks like its been paid twice but they as said didn't seem too concerned.Thought about emailing them too but I have a timestamped screenshot of the details. So , we'll see. I don't want to be at some point down the line accused of using some kind of 'clone' card or such to add free credit that's all. I've done nothing wrong at all.0

So long as you have a record of telling them, the worst that's likely to happen is they'll ask you for the missing £10 at some stage.N. Hampshire, he/him.
