Hi.
Mil currently has a Samsung Smart TV and a separate Manhattan dual-tuner recorder. All generally works well, tho' latterly some recordings have been chopped a bit.
Anyhoo, she's looking for a larger TV - say 55" upwards - and the latest Manhattan box - the T4.R. And then she had a thought - isn't there a TV with all this recording malarkey already built in?
It would have to be:
1) Dual-tuner recording - which might mean 3 tuners in total to allow a third channel to be watched 'live'.
2) Be as intuitive to use as the current TV and Manhattan.
3) 55" or so.
I know that many TVs can record with the addition of a stick or hard drive, but it'll need as intuitive an interface as the Manhattan has.
Anything out there?
Ta.

Ok, not going to try and find a TV with three tuners! So, that leaves Manhattan versus Humax as a stand-alone recorder. Which one to go for?!0

Wouldn't something like Freeview+ work? Or if your MIL has TV with her broadband that could be an option too.1

The last time I looked there is no internal recorder for that size and quality is low in summary 'NO'.

Certainly nothing new, the Sony XR-55A80J from a few years back could record to HDD. I'm sure there's not a commercially viable demand as people will use Catch-Up/On Demand services on internet linked TVs or external boxes.1

I have the Humax Aura. I got my mum the Manhattan T3-R. Unless there's some specific feature you want that only the Humax has I wouldn't pay more for it over the Manhattan.1

She watches TV via the Manhattan, and also has her PC connected to it for emails and playing Bridge.
So we've decided to keep things the same as current - the new Manhattan, and a 65" jobbie of a TV, probably an LG.A lot of TV for the money:

Yes. But it just needs to be kept simple. She's in her late-80's, and whilst very capable, I don't think an unnecessary operational change will be advised. 'Cos I'd have to sort it...

She's used to the Manhattan, likes it, so that's a no-brainer since there's no obvious reason to change.Thank you, everyone.0
