Web Word version printing issue

Hope someone can help here.

On  win 11 PC set up very simply Word app on the web is used ( via Chrome). For many a month no issue. Recently ( last week or two so I am informed Web Word will no longer print to the local default printer and the is no menu option to select the printer ( or ad default) and the app automatically is set now somehow to print a pdf.

I have investigated and windows still has the local printer as default ( and it still works ok) and the Web Word app and 365 suite setting does not give any printer setting option.

So have tried on my own win 10 PC via Firefox with exactly the same issues. My installed Word is fine. Online advice only seems to suggest win device default setting and online file print location option. First is set OK second does not seem to exist!

Anyone come across this and sorted or have ideas to fix?

Given the repetitive nature of you advice on pretty much every issue I'm starting to think you must be a ChatGPT-powered bot.

Not all all, just recognising that MSE Forum doesn't allow cutting and pasting answers from AIs. The variety of possible causes of the OPs issues can be fully explained by the AI with suggestions to resolve. AIs make 'techie' forums like this largely redundent, and the AI doesn't automatically suggest installing Linux Mint as the cure all... :*

Well I had tried the internet suggestions already. Same as an AI  response would have been and is.

Nope. Neither suggestion option 1 or two works ( set default browser printer, set default OS printer) and there is no option to set a printer from Word Online file/print and print again. Word goes straight to PDF print.

That's two different PCs, OS, and browser. Has worked fine  since last November till very recently. Copilot inhibited too now and still a problem....

You are far to confident in the abilities of LLMs.

For all but the simplest  technical matters they are usually very poor.

Hello, firstly, what printer are you using, wired or wireless? Have you tried a different browser try Duck Duck Go
Sometimes, outdated browser data can cause unexpected behavior in web applications. Try clearing the cache and cookies for both Chrome and Firefox on your respective machines. After clearing, close and reopen the browser, log back into Word Online, and try printing again.

Have you recently installed or updated a browser extension that could be interfering with the printing functionality of Word Online? Try temporarily disabling all browser extensions and then attempt to print from Word Online. If it works, re-enable your extensions one by one to identify the culprit.

Windows 10 and 11 have a built-in "Microsoft Print to PDF" printer. It's possible that Word Online is somehow defaulting to this within the browser's print process, even if it's not the Windows default printer. When you see the print preview (if it appears), explicitly look for your physical printer in the destination dropdown.

    Thanks for those suggestions.
