Just cost myself £125!!!!!!!!

Booking a holiday to Florida for my family of five i checked all the fights sights, couldn't get reasonable flights online so, i phoned Thomas Cook who gave me a quote for £2295 flight only which i felt was ok so i booked them. The problem then started when tonight i checked Thomas Cook website (i know i shouldn't have checked) and found the same flight for £2170, £125 cheaper  (it's costly enough without being ripped off) i wouldn't have minded as much but i checked their website this morning and it couldn't give me the availability.

Could i cancel under the distance selling regs, and then rebook online?

with TC you usualy have 24 hours and they will price match after that ther isnt much you can do. If you cancel you will lose your deposit
Distance selling regs dont cover holiday I dont think
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

No, it is only for online transactions, hence the word " Distance ".

Not sure that it applies to flights / holidays anyway.

Ouch!! That must hurt, but we have all been there.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Have you checked the baggage allowance ? On the website you are quoted for the smaller allowance and you pay extra for a larger figure. On the telephone I think they automatically add the £25 on which would total £125.
  • Thanks for the advice everyone, Duckcity you are spot on we were charged an extra £25 each for an extra 5kg each. I'll maybe give them a call an chance my luck, the guy i booked with was vey nice mayb'e he'll let me take less baggage (wishful thinking mayb'e) as we are staying in a villaand weren't planning and taking so much clothes this time and there's five of us so we can pool

    Thanks again ;)
