Hi all,
Just thought I would share this information about a recent AA claim.
My Nan is currently getting the lower rate of AA due to her mobility issues she requires care most of the time in day, she is currently waiting for a operation on her hip and knee, her current AA claim is coming to an end in September, we both recently filled out the AA form again as she has gotten worse over the course of waiting for the operation. Her claim was denied and her current claim was stop their and then, the reason they gave was because that she doesn't require any care at night even though she can't use the toilet a night as it's downstairs and she sleeps up stairs. I assume this is because of the recent changes the Government have made to disability payments.

There has no been any changes to AA. If she has regular care needs or difficulties during either day or night she should be eligible for the lower rate. If she has day and night time care needs or difficulties then she may qualify for the higher rate. maybe they think she will improve with the operation ? If you do not agree with their decision you can do a mandatory reconsideration, send in extra medical evidence to support this etc.2

At the time of filling out the AA form her first operation had been cancelled due to failings of NHS staff, we now have a 2nd date after the renewal form was sent in, her recovery time is estimated to be around 2-3 weeks and she will need care during the night.Rubyroobs said:There has no been any changes to AA.
