Advice please about UC

I have a terrible feeling I’ve made a huge mistake. My son receives enhanced PIP and also works 18 hours a week on minimum wage. He does not claim UC.
I claim UC and they know I’m his carer. Should I have informed UC that he’s working? He started the job in 2022 and it’s only just dawned on me now that I should have informed them when I started my UC claim in 2023 but I’m sure when I opened my claim there was nothing asking about his income apart from him claiming PIP.
Council tax know he’s working as I send them his pay slips.
Thank you

Your Son working is not something you need to tell UC about.

If you are claiming child amount for your Son on your claim based on him being in education or training, if this is now incorrect you need to report change under section children and other people who live with me.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Hi huckster, He’s 26 and not in education or training, he just works 18 hours a week and claims PIP. I have just checked my UC account and it says there are no children on my claim.
Thank you, you’ve put my mind at rest as I was ever so worried.

Your adult son, even if living with you, is usually considered a separate entity for UC purposes unless he is part of your claim (which he isn't, as he claims PIP and works).

If he is contributing to bills or paying rent, UC would classify that as income.

So unless they ask for you to update anything or you have a change of circumstances nothing to be concerned with. Have a good weekend. 🤗
