Hi all

I moved to Ecotricity 2 months ago. They installed the smart meter and it worked for nearly 2 days, and then stopped working. Ive been trying to contact Ecotricity for a few weeks but they dont answer emails or messages. So Im at a loss.

Does anyone know possible causes of why the smart meter isnt working? It cant connect to the meter, despite it being next to the meter. I dont want to restart/reset the device in case it messes something up.

Does anyone know?
Thanks

Do you mean the smart meter (the thing hard wired to your electrical supply and screwed to the wall), or do you mean the IHD (the little toy, that may or may not show your usage)?

I think you mean the IHD,not the meter. I can’t see resetting it will cause any other problems being it’s already not communicating to the hub. Are you getting bills ?

Yes, I got my first bill.
There is a 'reset to factory default' setting. I darent click it becuase presuemably theres some settings that the engineer may have set which I dont want to mess up... and make a bad situation worse. Although - as you say - its not currently working anyway!

You can't restart your smart meter (the white or beige box that's attached to the wall). However if the problem is with your in-home display, you definitely can restart it.
Unplug it, remove any batteries it might have, wait a couple of minutes then plug it back in and replace the batteries.

Ihds on the han have a very short range - mines is flaky - despite being less than 4m from meter - but meter is outside in cavity wall space so  1 brick wall and 2 internal doors in way.

I sometimes have to move it closer to reconnect - literally other sidd of 1 internal door normally enough without power cycling to get it back
    .

All the critical settings are on your meter - the ihd and meter will remember it's pairing on power reset.

Mines worked from day 1 ' perversely others say told it might take a couple of days to work.

Try moving it closer and see if now connects.
