Amazon.co.uk Purchase From Third Party | Marketplace Seller

Hi,

Any advice appreciated.

I have made a purchase from Amazon.co.uk for a high end robot lawn mower (£3000). One of the deciding factors was the 2 year warranty and the thought that Amazon had my back. I am 11 months in and having a nightmare getting it fixed. I thought at the time it was Amazon.co.uk but it looks like it was a marketplace seller, based in Germany. Obviously it was Amazon.co.uk that took the payment.

Do I have a claim against Amazon.co.uk via UK Small Claims Courts, even if this is indeed a Marketplace Seller? Otherwise I think that if the selling company is based in Germany, I am out of luck?

Thanks

  • AFAIK Amazon aren't a party to the contract so there isn't recourse with them, seller in Germany is possible but difficult.

OP have you tried voicing your issues on the the seller's (and/or manufacturer's, if not one and the same) social media pages?

That two year warranty might refer to a quirk in EU consumer rights legislation which has never been part of Consumer Rights law in the UK.

What exactly does the seller say about 2 year warranty in the UK?
