Has anyone else had problems with a Dualit kettle - or Dualit item?

I bought a Dualit Kettle (the Studio) which had a two-year guarantee, and as the two years ended it developed problems including being temperamental turning on, light stopping working, then in the 2-3 yr interval the lid stopped 'holding' when filling so as it falls closed you get badly splashed; the lid also can spring open which is dangerous when pouring boiling water. I checked the reviews on John Lewis where it was bought, and noticed in the one, two and three star categories a consistency of dissatisfaction where people were and still are experiencing these problems and at this time point after purchase. I also looked more widely at Trust Pilot, similar story. Contacted Dualit who were just glib (quote, "people are just venting their frustration online as they can't return it" - rather than addressing the actual point that they are annoyed it has failed at all at this point for a £59.99 kettle!!); very dismissive, very rude. Adding utter insult, they offered another at a 34% discount : ) I then discovered a posting from 2011 on this forum citing the exact same problems - with one poster including the response from the same Customer Services Manager who replied to me - so they absolutely ARE aware of these problems and have been for a very long time. I'd be interested to hear from those having the problems described above with Dualit, and particularly with the Studio model - as well as other kettles from them.

This is the cheapest kettle made i china i am led to believe, nearly bought one in Jan.Personally i would be over the moon if a kettle lasted 12 months, we go through them like no tomorrow all decent brands at about your price point. The longest a kettle has lasted for us is Delonghis just short of 2 years but leak.Just bought 4 months ago the next model up from yours, parts are available.Guarantees up take that 34% off and be grateful.1

We have the dualit 1 litre jug kettle (costs about £5 more than the OP’s, currently it’s 3 and a bit years old and still going strong.1

We got this Beko https://www.amazon.co.uk/WKM8306W-Cosmopolis-Kettle-Limescale-Filter/dp/B08357RNRM?th=1 (I think we got it from TKMaxx though) just around 4 years ago and it's still going strong.
I did fancy a Dualit but was not convinced because to me it was all just the brand and name alone isn't enough to demand such a high cost.1 -
Thanks for the recommendation re the Beko. Lidl have one as their specials this week at 19.99 - with a three year guarantee!!! Looks stylish too in Black, so if it went after three years I'd be ok with that, but it's 2 years at 59.99 that annoys me - think with any product we have a sense of whether we got our money's worth...0
