PCP Voluntary Termination
Hi all,
I took out a PCP contract for 4 year duration / 10,000 miles a year, just over three years ago.
Due to a change of circumstance I’ve decided to voluntarily terminate the agreement and the finance company have confirmed that I have paid over 50% of the loan and can return the vehicle and they will have it collected by car auctions.
My questions are as follows:
1. vehicle has just had an mot, it got an advisory (red) for rear disks and pads. I put off doing this as the dealer wants almost £1000 for this. Will I get charged for this even though the vehicle has a mot, or is it better to get it done before handing back?
2. There is wear the boot from a bike rack, should I get this done or will I be charged?
3. There is slight trim damage at the boot. Should I get that addressed as well before handing back?
4. The vehicle is presently at 35,000 miles. Will I be charged for the ‘over mileage’?
5. If I’ve got to pay for the above, am I better off keeping the vehicle and then handing it back at the end of the agreement?
We handed a vehicle back a few years ago to British car auctions and no one even looked at it. Is that still the case or do they still just sign it over and don’t worry about it?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

1) I wouldn't bother. Advisories mean that they are fine-now, but might cause it to fail the next MOT. (Or might not....).
It has a valid MOT ad they don't need doing now.
2) They will charge you. You are trying to VT, so they have lost money and want to recoup as much as they can.

4) They will try and charge you. You are trying to VT, so they have lost money and want to recoup as much as they can. If you won't pay they may try and take you to Court for the money, they may or may not win.
5) They will still charge you for 2), 3) & 4). You might be better off paying off the finance and selling the car as is.They might just take the car away with their eyes closed, or they might go over it with a fine tooth comb. If you can get the work done for peanuts, I'd do it. If you would have to pay full garage prices for all the work I'd chance it, but expect to be charged the same if you aren't lucky.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)
