How we get rid of my unwanted Oasis Tickets (WITHOUT LOSING OUT)

Options
HI all

This is for a close family member…

I’d appreciate it if I or he wasn’t labelled as greedy, silly or naive when you’ve read this post.

Basically, last year he got in a bidding for a queue for a pair of Oasis Tickets at Heaton Park in Manchester on Ticketmaster website.

Here’s… the bit where he made mistakes…

Somewhere along the line he must have (foolishly & unknowingly) admitted to dynamic pricing. Knowing there was such a high demand he sort of went along with it and ended up paying £713 for 2 tickets direct from ticketmaster. He still has the tickets and receipts etc. However, He is now due an operation on his knee a few weeks before the event and there’s no way he would/could chance it in the standing area.

So, it’s obvious he needs to somehow get hi £713 back.

I was speaking to a pal (who goes to loads of concerts) who told me this:

He can’t sell them on because of new checks Ticketmaster have implemented.

If you sell them back to tripadvisor they won’t give you all the money you paid to them because it was dynamic pricing.

I asked my mate could he sell them on a reselling site and he said he doesn’t think so.

I don’t really want to speak to ticketmaster until we have the correct information to argue back with them.

Is anyone in same position or has anyone been in a similar position?

Thanks in advance.

    Thank you.

We were a bit nervous about ‘alerting’ ticketmaster in case they put a block on the tickets.

Not yet, for the reason that… They think that once they alert ticketmaster that they are trying to get rid of the tickets, then ticketmaster will be ‘watching’ for that ticket and checking to see if it has been sold/transferred etc.

Tickets master resales are a legitimate way to sell tickets bought from them. Why would you think they would be cancelled?

Because we heard that we won’t get the FULL fee back for the surge pricing.

There'll likely be many people in the same 'boat', now the hype has died down.

There are two elements at play. If he can't attend due to the operation then transferring them to people who can attend is superior to getting nothing and not attending.

Whether the full original purchase amount can be replicated in the sale is purely down to the demand from the market at the time of sale. There's no 'right' to obtain the full amount, quite possibly they will take a hit.

Probably  a case of something for the tickets is better than nothing and at least it would be a legit route
