Rejected faulty lease car, credit file

Hi all, I rejected my faulty lease car and the finance company agreed to rescind the contract, with the legal obligation to restore my position to as if the lease never happened.

They say, however, that they cannot/will not remove the hard credit check from my file. Given the lease had to be terminated through no fault of my own, and because of that I’ve had to have another hard credit check in order to get a new lease car (different company), I believe the original credit check should be removed. It seems unfair that I now have two on my record, all because the car they supplied was faulty. That doesn’t restore my position to as if the lease ever happened and has a detrimental effect on my record and credit score.

Can anyone help or point me somewhere to someone who’d know? An online search has been fruitless.

Thank you!

A credit check is a matter of fact. So they should not remove it.
But they should state that the lease has been settled.

    ^^^ This.
But a couple of hard searches is not really a cause for concern (when was the original search performed?).  And if you're not planning on applying for any further credit in the next few months, then it really won't make any difference at all.  It's only when you have several hard searches in a short space of time that lenders start to get a bit jittery.
