Why are JC still reviewing my reason not to attend appointment

Hi, Was wondering if I could get some help please.

On Friday I was unable to attend my appointment at the jobcentre due to being at work, I notified them I couldn`t make it within the deadline. What normally happens is they review it, clear it and my reason is accepted and a new appointment is booked straight away. However this time around that did not happen and I don`t understand as to what is going on as this is my first time on UC for a long time so don`t know the new rules and what goes on.

What`s happened now is I had a message saying `You need to rebook your appointment`, My job coach normally books it right away and it had a message underneath saying my reason is under review and it`s been like that for about 2 days now, My job coach has seen it because she`s sent me messages. So i`m just wondering what this could be about and why it hasn`t been accepted right away? As it`s getting me a bit worried. It`s a perfectly justifiable review seeing as it`s been accepted up until now.

I haven`t been applying for jobs and logging them in, I know that`s part of the commitments but I was called in at work for a week, it`s been hot and really busy (Bank holiday week/end). Plus it takes me about an hour or sometimes more to get home. By the time I get home I have zero energy and barely enough to walk the dog. I stare at the computer screen and my eyes are dropping so dunoo if that`s the problem? Although didn`t seem like a problem before. So dunno if this is why maybe?

My next appointment is Monday, Dunno if i`ll be able to attend it as my days at the moment are all over the place due to how busy we are. My last appointment was a phonecall about 2 weeks ago?? So yeah work gets in a way alot but I`m not dropping my job just to please the JC.

Any feedback would be great thank you.

if you sent Friday, then there was a bank holiday Monday - could be they are only back in work today?

I sent them the message I couldn`t attend Thursday evening. They was back yesterday as they were sending me messages after I sent them why I couldn`t attend the appointment. The other weird thing is my job coach`s name has now been replaced with `An agent` so I dunno if it`s her or someone else i`m talking too.

Could be that they are on holiday for a few days so it's a generic person answering the messages.

That could be your issue right there.
    How often is "normally"?
You need to show 'Good Reason' for missing an appointment, and what may be 'Good Reason' for once or twice may not be as good a reason for it to be happening regularly.

Being referred to a Decision Maker to consider applying a sanction ?

As others have said, they can only accept good reasons a few times and then they have to submit to a Decision Maker to consider whether a sanction is applied.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

"I was called in at work for a week ..... So yeah work gets in a way alot but I`m not dropping my job just to please the JC".

Do you have a regular part or full time job, i.e. not a one off call into work? And did you tell the jobcentre you're working, otherwise how would they know for your appointments.

The JC will be pleased if you're working but it's not clear if you are.

"I haven`t been applying for jobs and logging them in, I know that`s part of the commitments".

So you don't have a regular job?

I`ve been on UC since late Feb, I`ve attended a few appointments until work picked up again around late March/Apr. Ever since then I haven`t been able to attend appointments because i`ve been at work. Sometimes the rota isnt done until very late. I can`t think of a better reason to miss these appointments.

Only other reason I can think is my boss went on holiday for 2 weeks recently, So he double paid us for a week as he didn`t trust no one to push the button to pay us. So maybe that double pay raised an alert. I might just be clutching here.

Might just pop my job coach a message about this

No it`s a regular job. Yes they knew beforehand when I applied I was working. The building I work in had scaffolding up for 5 months and they had no work for any of us. Scaffolding is now down and work is picking up however I`m just waiting for it to pick up a bit more as i`m still getting no weeks without work, However few and far between. Was looking to come off UC when I get paid this month as it should pick up now Summers coming.
