Apologies if I'm missing something, but what's the problem with a contactless limit being imposed? To my mind, having a relatively low limit means that if someone "obtains" your card, they can't go out and spend large amounts unless they also know your PIN. And for genuine transactions made by you, it's hardly an inconvenience to have to pop you card into the machine and type in your PIN.

Some bank apps let you increase the amount and often google or apple pay will let it go through on higher limits - the garage I use is the only one where my bank blocks it and I have to put the card into the reader
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

We should be able to change the amount via our banks website page and add a reason why just like if we were paying others already. It would stop people from increasing the amount if cards are stolen.Life in the slow lane0
