Missing accounts in Transunion and MSE Credit Club reports

Finally got around to looking at these, only to find my two current accounts (both with overdraft arrangements) and my main two Credit Cards (with one of the current account providers) are missing. As is my small loan account with a Credit Union. Together that’s about 50% of my (exceptionally well managed… ;-)) credit facilities. How can I get them added, and indeed /should/ I?

Creditors choose who to report to, and these days MSE uses transunion data.

Check one or both of the other two to get a full picture

Check on ClearScore (for Equifax) and see if they are on there. All my mainstream current accounts and cards are on both them and TransUnion who MSE use, they were on Experian until MSE jumped ship

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Thanks both. Signed up to see my Equifax report and it’s the same. Missing my current accounts and my two main credit card accounts and my credit union loan. Interestingly it DOES (unlike Transunion) have all my closed accounts and a closed mortgage with my main current account bank. So it knows I have (or had) accounts with that bank but not the main one or the credit cards. Weird! Am going to file under “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and ignore.

When were the accounts opened? Accounts opened before a certain date don’t report to CRAs.
  • One current account about 17 years ago, the other one with the cards, 1970s (cards added in the ‘80s)… So yeh, that might be outtatime. ;-) The credit union one only three years ago though.

For very old account, T&Cs likely didn't allow sharing of data.
