Yes but remember you are paying your own transportation and accommodation, if required, which can easily dwarf the worth of a couple of drinks and canapéGoober11 said:Also interested in attending AGMs that offer shareholders perks like lunches, drinks receptions and the like. Do these sorts of things still exist or are the companies (rightfully) ploughing the monies instead into dividends?

You have to apply for a new shareholder card every year. The perk is only valid for one year at a time and must be renewed.35har1old said:

It's breakfast for two people in up to two rooms on the same booking, so go away for a weekend with friends or family and it's a £40 saving. Five weekends away is giving you over 10% return as well as 3.5% dividend. It's not a bad deal if you enjoy a few weekends away each year.subjecttocontract said:You can buy an awful lot of breakfasts with £27 x 64 = £1728. Maybe you could get 4% return it the money was in a savings account instead. But as breakfasts are about £10 a pop you'd only need 7 breakfasts over the year to break even. If you travel regularly I can see how they might be a suitable choice.0 -

I am assuming that many of these AGMs might be held in London. So potentially worth the effort if you are London / SE based?

I bought 100 CCL shares about 25 years ago the value of which has been paid back many times over.
RCL also do the same although they are a bit restrictive in that you can't combine the benefit with other deals.
If you cruise from time to time then such benefits can be overwhelmingly beneficial.0 -
You don't have to re-apply each year (at least not if you hold the shares in your name directly - you might have to if you are going via a share platform), the card gets sent directly to you each year.Shimrod said:

The offers can change - a few years ago it was for a free Sunday night booking in a Premier Inn if you paid for the Saturday, for the last couple of years it's been free breakfasts when you stay.1 -
I hold my shares in a nominee account (as I suspect most do) - I have to re-apply it's not automatic. I've only had the shares since it was free breakfasts, so wasn't aware the offer used to be different.p00hsticks said:

Do you have to be holding them before booking?tigerspill said:I have 100 CCL shares which gets we on board credit in all CCL's cruise lines. I am getting $250 on our cruise next month.0 -
Depends where the company is head office and its shareholders are based. The last time I had to put something to an AGM was for two marine insurers and their AGMs were mobile. For the one I was involved with it was held in Athens despite both firms being UK domiciled.Goober11 said:DullGreyGuy said:

Thankfully I dont often do work significant enough to have to go to a shareholder/members vote but increasingly for big corporates they are held in their own buildings rather than lavish hotels etc. Still get the bottle of beer but just in an office environment.0 -
You have to claim the benefit at least 3 weeks before your departure date35har1old said:
