I have my PIP appeal tomorrow and I have just prepared a statement of my reasons why I should get the points for planning and following a journey.  I am representing myself and have highlighted information that was in the assessors that have not been factored into the decision. It is a video tribunal.

Do you think I will be allowed to read my statement it is about 5 mins long?

Also should I expect many questions from the panel?

What did you include in your appeal paperwork?  Normally a statement of  reasons would be given before hand, this allows the judge to go though it  and then ask any questions about it when you appear before the panel.
They may let you read it, or just ask questions allowing you to refer to what you have written.

Just had a phone call and appeal is not going ahead as they have read through paperwork  and agreed in discussion with dwp that I was entitled to enhanced mobility.  My frustration is that the dwp who had all this paperwork could not come to this conclusion themselves.

I agree, unneeded  time, effort and stress when at times it's so clear-cut.

So i have received my appeal outcome letter and it has been backdated to the date that the DWP sent out the review forms - November 2022.  I thought the backdating is meant to from the decision date December 2023.  Is this normal?

I was going to ask for this at the hearing with the justification that the DWP are being rewarded for delaying the decision. I thought i had missed out but luckily not. :)

Initial Pip payments are backdated to the point of your call to start the claim, so by sending you out the review form starts your review period.  So makes sense that they would back date it till then.

As I understand DWP have some discretion as to whether a review award dates to when the decision is made or when the review started.

The DWP were explicit in their response to the tribunal that the award should be from the decision date.  When I  saw this I was surprised but thankfully the tribunal have awarded from the review date.
