speakers for MP4 player

I bought my son a Compark S4 4gb MP4 player and wanted to ask if anyone knows whether this can be plugged in to speakers/docking station (I think its called). I have seen some speakers/staations on Amazon, but dont want to purchase them until I know if I can do it or not.

Most portable speakers will come with a 3.5mm jack connection (just a normal headphone size) so that you can plug anything with a headphone socket in the speakers.

Some of the Ipod specific docking stations might not have this, but a generic set of speakers should. But I'm sure most of the Ipod type speakers often come with a headphone connection too anyway.
