Gas Smart Meter Not Working - Octopus Energy

Hi. Is anyone else haviong issues with seeing your Gas consumption on the Octopus Energy dashboard? I'm an Octopus Energy customer living in a small Aberdeenshire village. Since moving into my home over a year ago my electric smart meter has worked perfectly and I can see my electricity usage on the Octopus Dashboard no problem. The gas smart meter however seems to be intermittent with its data sending and I rarely get to see my gas consumption on the Octopus Energy dashboard. My meter is supposed to send readings every 30 mins. I raised the issue with Octopus over 2 months ago and they say they are working on finding a solution. They have asked me to tell them the meter locations, the house build construction, my street I live in etc. Baring in mind it worked perfectly for one week where i could see my consumption before it dropped off again the day I went on holiday and where there was no gas consumption in the property for a week. It all seems very coincidental. Through the winter I noticed I was consuming a sickening amount of gas to keep my house warm. It's an old 3 bedroom granite built cottage built in the early 1900's however it does have a brand new Bosh-Worcster Greenstar 8000 32kw Combi Bolier fitted earlier this year. I was thinking I was being cheated by a defective gas smart meter which coincided with my inability to see my gas consumption. I've been paying from £270 to £300 for my energy over the past 6 months and still my gas bill is huge. I've just switched enegy provider to OVO energy. I'm hoping my issue doesn't follow me over. The previous owner of the property was supplied by British Gas and they never had any issues with seeing their gas consumption. I am wondering is this just an Octopus Energy issue? I'd apprecate if anyone can let mek now if they are experiancing this same issues? Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
You seem to have two separate problems:
    - Intermittent comms from your smart gas meter.
    - High gas bill.
It's better not to mix the two up, and switching is unlikely to help with either.
Do you know how read your gas meter manually? What was the reading when you moved in, and what does it read today?

To answer one of your concerns, can you read the gas meter yourself? You may have to push one or more buttons.

Check that you're being billed for the correct units. Your gas smart meter will be metric, counting cubic metres. If they're billing you as it it was counting cubic feet, where one count is 100 cu.ft, then the bill will be wrong.
