If you need to be there for particular dates in a particular resort then taking advantage of early booking discounts is likely to give you as good a price with a lot less stress. Try checking out simple greek style accomadation from some of the Greek specialists-Kosmar are very good . Avoid the huge chains like Thomas Cook and Thomson who only sell a limited range of companies and go to either Co-op travel or an independent agent who will offer a wider range of tour operators.
Alternatively you could ring the hotel direct and ask how much they would charge you for a direct booking and then see how much a flight would be on top. Just be careful with leaving booking the flights late in that case

    MSE Florida wedding .....no problem
  • I would book as fast as you can, if I were you. Zakynthos is filling up rapidly and some hotels are already fully booked for that period. A quick search on booking.com showed that the Contessina has 2 double rooms available in the week of Aug. 30th to Sep. 6th for €495 (7 nights). The Balcony (closest to the Contessina) is fully booked, the Petros (within walking distance < 500m) still has 3 double rooms left at €395 for 7 nights.

Booking.com offers better rates than booking with the hotels directly, but of course can't beat package deal brokers. But you could try to find a flight only and book the hotel yourself if you're desperate to be there at a certain moment. Whichever option you chose, I would chose quickly...

Is the 4th the day you need to leave or the date you need to be there for the wedding?

if you can leave on the 4th
    Contessina Hotel
    Tsilivi, Zakynthos
    7 nights
Bed & Breakfast with Thomsons hotels

    Thu 04/09/2008 to
    Thu 11/09/2008
    Rooms: Twin room
    £225
    flgihts with www.airflights.co.uk
    £392

    £617
still seems expensive to me for Greece but if you have only that date you can leave I would get it booked but if your flexiable with in reason it might be worth waiting

or booking it all with Thomsons viathe hotel section its £775 for the 4th Sep or £789 for the 28th August

    This seems better value

    Leaving 1st September14 nights
    Contessina Hotel
    Tsilivi, Zakynthos
    14 nights
    Bed & Breakfast
    £448 with thomsons hotels
then add flight with Thomsons cook via airflights £456.00

you have 2 weeks for what Thomsons want for 1 week
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

I'm not sure if this is of any help but last year, myself and Mrs Baker went to our friends' wedding in Tsilivi at the end of August/beginning of September. By far the cheapest way was to book a package through Thomas Cook - the same flights with Thomas Cook Airlines alone cost way more than the package. I never thought I'd go on a package holiday again after years of booking things individually myself! Fortunately, Mrs Baker knows someone who works in a Thomas Cook shop and she worked some magic to get the price down to £400 for both of us for 1 week. It may be worth having a look on the Thomas Cook website.
