lemonfool investing forum down?

Lemonfool ( fixed income) was suggested when the excellent 'bond of the week' written by Oliver Butt was retired along with the 'fixed income investor ' site that hosted it.
Oliver is an expert professional in this arena, so his thoughts, suggestions and warnings in the corporate bond fixed income sector was always worth a read.
The Lemonfool forum by contrast , is somewhat more pedestrian but I put this down to the steep decline in fixed income investing opportunities for retail investors with regard to ORBs, PIBs and Prefs. With so few new issues, Lemonfool forum contributors have little to usefully discuss.0 -

I have looked at the others but realised I did not have enough interest/brainspace/time in general to spread my wings beyond MSE significantly. That's good that the Lemon Fool is back online again. It can certainly be quite useful for investments and markets discussions (which the MSE site and forums tend not to cover to the same extent), and there are certainly a good number of helpful and knowledgeable members there. Its "off-topic" categories section (which I mostly tend to ignore) does unfortunately tend to have a certain number of frequent posters with seemingly near-infinite time for arguments (and rather much more arguments than enlightening discussion, at that - rather too much like usenet of old). I also more prefer the quite commonplace phpBB forum software that the site uses, compared to the MSE forum software, although that's a relatively minor thing.Monevator is another very informative investment-focused site and also has many helpful readers who post useful comments, but these are as comment responses to articles on the site, rather than it having a fully fledged forum area.0 -
I tried reading Citywire for a while, but found that a lot of the posters wrote in a very similar style to an almost unnerving degree. Like they had all been trained in English by the same person. This was before AI became a thing, so was not that.
Probably more that there were many regulars and not so many newbie/inexperienced posters as you get on MSE.0 -
Citywire has lots of interesting nuggets but most of the posting seems to be aggressively split into two opposing camps. My biggest bugbear is that the site is slow and hasn't been optimised for mobile reading which means pinching and scaling the text for every page. I can't remember if it's Citywire or Lemonfool with one chap who single-handedly runs a dull thread which is effectively his own echo chamber of graph screenshots0

I used to frequent Citywire a while ago but not for ages. It's far more focused on investing and politics than saving. I get the impression that the demographic is skewed towards the retired end of the spectrum (not everyone though!). It was more fun a few years back when there were some 'characters' I nthe regular posters, some of them have dropped off now.
On the flip side, I think there's some pretty well informed people there, who on a good day, can give some interesting discussion. It can be a bit clicky thougu
I think it's where Thrugmuler hangs out these days as it goes.
If I were to characterise the most frequent visitors for some reason I just have images of retired people in suits drinking in the Lamb in leadanhall market, lol0 -

The problems mentioned returned with bells on over the past couple of days, and they've now caused the site to be closed completely so that a "large upgrade" can be implemented.0
