Dla to pip

Hello, does anyone know when the Indefinate dla to pip transfers will take place?   i can't seem to find a definitive answer about this.

Hi, I know it's shocking isn't it the lack of clarity from the government /dwp.    The constant worrying is so bad for people's health, not too mention the upcoming benefit changes too.  I'm still on old style cb esa and can't find out if I'm included in the new time limited unemployment insurance benefit or not either which is another huge worry.   I just want to know where I stand.

Hi,  I think they left the Indefinate dla people till last originally, then covid happened and then the big increase in pip claimants so it pushed the dla people further back.   With the cb Esa only people, they were not going to be moved to uc if not in receipt of any income related benefits but now the new time limited employment benefit changes all that I think.    If the changes don't happen until next year or later then those people will lose out on a lot of money.

Mine was an indefinite DLA award. I actually benefitted from the transition iirc, went from middle care on DLA to enhanced on PIP. It was a lot less arduous than I'd expected

My indefinite DLA award changed to PIP at the start of 2018.  They haven't left the indefinite awards to last, it's just the luck of the draw

Ahh OK, I thought they were leaving dealing with Indefinate dla till last but obviously that's not the case.   It's good to know it's gone well for some people though teaselMay.   I just wonder whether it will be dealt with before the new changes come in and make it harder for people to get pip with the 4 points thing.   Do I have wait to be asked to transfer over?  If not then do you think it's a good idea to try and change over now or not. I'm not sure what is the best thing to do.

There is a mechanism to voluntarily transfer. I just had a quick google and found this https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/before-claiming/if-you-get-dla/#:~:text=If%20you%20were%20born%20before,in%20the%20next%20few%20years. there's likely to be a page on the .gov.uk site too.

I don't know whether it's a good idea, it depends on your circumstances. If you google and find the 'descriptors' you could see how many points you're likely to get for each and so what you think you're likely to get and compare that to what you currently receive.

Hi teaselMay,  thanks for the link, I will take a look.  I'm currently on high rate mobility and middle rate care and essentially housebound /bedbound the majority of the time.  I don't know if I would be better or worse off on pip as I find the whole benefit system quite confusing.   I do worry though that I might not be successful on my transfer as I've heard a lot of horror stories about it and also a lot of my medical letters are considered old now and no longer relevant as the doctors cannot offer anything else but I guess it's going to happen sooner or later anyway.

Yep at some point you'll be transferred, and probably soon I'd suspect because it's so long since they started the transfers.

The descriptors are quite clear so you can probably get a good idea what you might score, the application is all based around those descriptors as is the appointment. I found the assessor very fair, in fact when I got the outcome I questioned it because I thought that they'd been too generous on one point. With hindsight, and certainly now, they were right but at the time I was surprised and concerned that I'd somehow end up being asked for some money back! Mind you I questioned LCWRA too because I was actively looking for work when it was awarded.

Try not to be anxious about transferring. It is stressful but it's a process we have to go through, just be open and honest with them.
