bbc.co.uk changing to bbc.com when abroad

My Firefox homepage is set to bbc.co.uk/news/uk
Whenever I'm in Cyprus it changes after a couple of seconds to bbc.com etc
Just starting to read about the local election results when, boom, up pops the attention seeking ginger prince!
Is there a simple way of stopping this?

As above. You also get ads when on bbc.com. Very annoying when you just want to see the main news stories while on holiday!

other news websites are available !
However, this may work...
"If you look at the top of the bbc.com/news page, there is a small ‘UK’ choice/click which will take you to the UK news"
Also using the Brave browser my work but you would have to research this
Also, have you tried

Yes, it takes me to the UK news but the .com version, not the .co.uk which are bizarrely different!

Will tryThat's what it defaults to!

A VPN is handy if you want to watch UK TV while overseas. I used CyberGhost in the past but it was awful, I currently use NordVPN and it’s much better. You have currently London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Douglas and St Helier as UK choices.
For the technically savvy, you can use your own VPN and “break out” from your home in the UK. For a relatively easy VPN to access your home and connect to the web from your home, while away, the free Tailscale VPN system is brilliant. I have been using it for over a year to access my home PC and some other equipment on my home network.
