Advice needed...

Hi,
I am currently receiving universal credit carers element as i am unemployed and caring for my autistic daughter. My mum has fronto temporal dementia and my dad is her main carer. Now my daughter is in school full time my dad proposed i become a self employed "personal assistant" to help out with mum and do bits of housework for them as the more advanced the dementia gets the more he struggles. He proposed this as it would help us both out, he would save money on paying for a live in carer (i live 2 mins down the road so can be there any time) and i would benefit from the extra money. I have no idea how I would go about doing this so any advice or information would be greatly received. Do i need to register as self employed? How much of my current money would I lose?

How much of my current money would I lose?- your earnings are £196 or less a week after tax, National Insurance and expenses

If OP claims Carers Allowance yes. But it won't affect the carer element of UC.born_again said:

OP you would also have the work allowance as you have a dependant daughter, which is an amount you can earn before they start taking the 55% deduction. If you rent then that's £411 per month (after self-employed expenses) or if you don't it's £684.1
