Vodafone broadband router.

We recently moved home. An engineer sorted out our broadband and got it up and working. It was reset to default where the password is beneath the router modem. I now need to change the password without typing in the crazy router password.

I have followed youtube videos where changing the password is made to look so simple. 192.168.1.1, after I have typed that I get a screen where it asks for the password. I typed in the password which is beneath the router but it tells me i'm blocked for ten seconds. I type it once more then I'm blocked for twenty seconds and so on. I.ve tried typing in vodafone nothing again then admin and again it blocks me for even longer. What am I doing wrong?

Kind regards Jeff

My vodafone router )model THG3000) doesn't use  the default password of 'admin', it has a complex password printed on the bottom of the router. This is to the right of the wifi password.

If this is where yours says 'admin' for the password and that's not working, you will need to factory reset the router in order to restore the default password. If the engineer has made any specific changes to router settings though you will lose those.,

You need to use the admin login password, which is usually different to the wifi network password. It should be written somewhere on the device, otherwise other usual options could be the serial number, "admin" or even leaving the password field blank. If you can tell us the model of router (or even just post a picture of it) then that might help us narrow it down

Thanks for the replies. I simply haven't a clue how to attach photos for which i took three. there is an alternate password to the long upper and lower case and numbered one. I'll have a look at it later and see if that works.

One password will be for the WiFi and the other for logging in to the router dashboard.

That sounds like the one you should be using. You could also download the Vodafone app for your phone - this gives an alternative mechanism for managing your router and wi-fi after you've got the access sorted.

Thank you all so much for the replies and assistance. The alternate password did the trick. Password changed and all wifi items now function correctly.
    Kind regards Jeff.

You could of course contact Vodafone and ask for help. Many of these systems have a limit on how many attempts you may eneter a password before being locked out.

    Just a thought
