Gold jewellery shock

Nearly 30 years ago we got engaged and we went to Hatton Garden and found a jeweller to make an engagement and wedding ring to my design. They weren’t wildly expensive as there was no massive High St markup. I got them valued last year and wasn’t particularly surprised to find they hadn’t increased hugely in value. Not that I minded that much as they weren’t bought as an investment and never leave my finger.FlorayG said:Retail value of gold jewellery and resale value - that sounds about right. Resale value pretty much gives you the value of the raw materials, not the fancy design of the piece. I inherited a gold and diamond ring valued for insurance at £15,000...I've been offered £4,500 for it by a reputable second-hand jeweller ( SO I'm keeping it!)It did make me realise how much of the purchase price was for the labour involved in making it just for me.2 -
9ct scrap gold 1987 per gram = ~£8.65
9ct scrap gold 2025 per gram = ~£26.07
If 18ct double both those prices.
If worth anymore that is the aesthetic value, but that could be zero or minimal.0
