Prepare to be spellbound by Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, a dazzling live action outdoor theatre spectacular in County Durham where legends come to life with magnificent sets, mass choreography, combat, stunts, horsemanship and stunning pyrotechnics.

Everything at Kynren is on an immense scale as it takes audiences on a breathtaking journey through 2,000 years of iconic English history, myth and legend.

A thousand-strong volunteer cast and crew perform Kynren on a seven-and-a-half acre stage – the scale of five football pitches – in front of an 8,000-seater tribune with panoramic views across the giant outdoor stage. Unforgettable animal stars, including magnificent horses, a flock of sheep and a gaggle of geese, steal the show as they help to recreate significant moments of history.

See Boudicca’s courageous but doomed uprising against the Romans and the clash of Viking and Anglo-Saxon leaders at the battle of Stamford Bridge. Experience the excitement as daring jousting knights on horseback charge at full speed, witness the future King Arthur as he draws the sword Excalibur from the stone and join the lavish celebrations of Queen Victoria’s Diamond jubilee.  

Before the main event, explore the unforgettable pre-show entertainment at Kynren’s popular Viking Village. Featuring an immersive recreation of a traditional 9th century dwelling, visitors can practice battle cries with fearless Viking warriors, visit the cookhouse, meet the animals, and watch the sparks fly as the blacksmith produces real chainmail in the forge.

There will be an expanded schedule for 2025, with Kynren wowing audiences every Saturday evening from 19th July until 13th September. Each 90-minute performance starts at sunset and ends in starlight.

This blockbuster production will also feature a special celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway, with Kynren’s replica of Locomotion No.1 steaming across the stage.

Three lucky winners will each win a pair of superior tickets to Kynren, plus car parking and shuttle passes will also be included.

Terms & Conditions

This competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom only.

Entrants must be eighteen (18) or over at the date of entry.

Three (3) winners will be randomly selected.

Each winner shall receive:

- A pair of superior tickets to Kynren 2025.

- Car parking for one car and shuttle bus passes to the event entrance for two people.

The prize must be used for one 2025 Saturday performance from 19th July – 13th September.

Dates are subject to availability.

The three winners will be notified by email and provided with a winner’s letter containing details on how to book their tickets.

Winners must claim the prize and book within 14 days of receiving the winner’s letter.

If the winners do not claim and book the prize within 14 days, the prize will be offered to another entrant.
