Octopus to EDF advice

Hi All,

I am on the Octopus 15M Fixed September 2024 v1 tariff, but checked the Energy Club options today and it says that a few are around the same amount cheaper. The MSE British Gas deal is one, but this EDF Simply Fixed Direct Aug26 is about the same - plus it has no exit fees and I think I can get £50 cashback via Top Cashback.

Is this correct? It seems like an easy choice if so.. or am I missing something?

Don't know about EDF but from my and my elderly mothers experience, I will warn you that British Gas are appalling to deal with. We have been with Octopus for a few years now and they have been excellent. I would rather pay more than switch back to British Gas.

Thanks for that. I'll think twice before going with British Gas then, this EDF option sounds like a better deal anyway and I was with them previously and they were fine. Anyone got thoughts on this option?

It's quite incredible how fast the prices change. I was about to sign up for the Simply Fixed Direct Aug26 this morning. Went to shop around, came back about 10 minutes later and the electricity rate had gone up from 20.83p per kWh to 24.45p

British Gas are dire, best avoided.

I've had no problems whatsoever with British Gas, but I appreciate that this might not be the case for everyone. Everything has been working fine since I switched to them a year ago and I got a very good retention deal from them a couple of days ago after speaking to them (I was going to switch to Octopus)
The company I've so many issues with that I would not want to go back to is Eon Next

I didn't notice that - but have just checked again and the version without exit fees (that was there earlier today) has now disappeared....

Yep, same for me, version with no exit fees disappeared. The v2 tariff does have lower standing charges, but works out more expensive overall.

Ironically I was ready to renew with EDF on that tariff but will now end up moving to another supplier.

v2 seems to be back with no exit fee for me (no cashback via MSE though, although I hope it still will have if I go via Top CashBack)-- should I go for it?
