Hi all
please can someone offer advice or point me in the right direction
my dad died on the 24th March. He was on PIP and UC
I was advised to notify his bank straight away which I did and the account was frozen.
he was due his UC payment on the 18th of April and it didn’t go through due to account being frozen
the advice I was given was that his estate maybe due a payment from PIP/UC as it’s paid in arrears and paid till the day he died.
PIP are sending me some forms so that’s fine but UC said that his final payment was sent but returned to them due to the account being frozen and the UC account is now closed.

I asked about how to get the final payment sent to his estate as at the moment I have covered all funeral costs so I am trying to recoup what I can, and he just brushed me off and said the account is closed.
is the estate owed that money?
is the estate owed that money?
He said my dad died 17 days into the assessment period but I don’t know what that actually means.
Any help would be appreciated - thank you

You might find a formal complaint gets a more helpful response for UC.

The advice that UC is payable until the date of his death isn't correct. This document confirms that when a single claimant dies there are no further payments due and for the purposes of the award calculation, the death is treated as if it occurred at the beginning of the assessment period: Document TitleThe comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
