Can anyone help please. I recently got a second hand scanner. It is EPSON PERFECTION 1200U. I downloaded the driver from the manufacturer's website. Installed it. There was no problem up to this. But when I tried to scan, it says 'The computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please make sure the device is turned on and is properly connected to the computer'. The connection is O.k. I don't know what to do now. Anybody have any idea?

How is your connection set up and what OS are you using?
Do you have an USB cable from scanner to a port on your computer?0 -
Hi ejones999
Thanks for replying. The scanner is connected via USB. OS is XP.0 -
Did you install the driver before plugging the scanner into your computer?
Look in Control Panel>System>System Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. If the scanner is listed with an exclamation mark, delete the entry, restart your computer and hopefully the driver will get installed correctly and the scanner will be recognised.Charlie0 -
Hi f1charlie
Thank you very much for the suggestion.
I did install the driver before connecting the scanner. The device manager doesn't show any problem. But when I click the scanner icon to scan or see the properties then the message comes saying ' there is a problem with the connection or the software'.
I am trying the trouble shooter in the device manager. Let's see what happens.0 -
Try another lead, or another port, but one thing at a time.Move along, nothing to see.0

Hi I have a plustek opticpro 12 scanner which I bought new and had to stop using because I couldn't get an xp driver -was using 98se for a long while! The makers site only listed a driver for certain serial numbers and I think a lot of scanners suffered like this.0

Already tried that. No use0
