Is there such a thing as an insurance policy for getting glasses reglazed? The one or two opticians I've been to expect me to sign an agreement to waive away any rights if the glasses are lost or damaged while being reglazed.  Meanwhile I just bought a pair of glasses that retails for around £600 so I dont want to lose them without any right to claim for them. Any ideas?

You're aware that the mark up on glasses frames is amongst the highest of any "designer" product? That £600 pair of glasses will have a profit margin of around 95% (or more), so I hope you bought them because you like them, and not for the "name".

I've had (cheaper) frames reglazed a few times without issue, but there is always the risk the frame will break - I'm not aware of any insurance policy that would cover this risk.

Frames could have hidden damage from being dropped or worn incorrectly - pushing glasses onto your head headband style, stresses the frame for example, taking them off with one hand, is also bad, and then there's the risk of dropping them...

You have rights under the CRA that they must perform the service with due care and attention and you cannot be forced to waive your statutory rights. Despite signing a waiver I struggle to see how they can claim they manage to lose them and yet have applied due care.

Breaking is another matter as mentioned above, it is possible that frames fail even with due skill applied.

You can buy a stand alone policy on glasses but the two I looked at exclude damage during servicing from the AD section and to be honest I would expect all others to too

I use Boots opticians to buy my glasses. Although my frames and sunglasses are relatively expensive 'designer' brands, they always seem to have offers which make reglazing more expensive than brand new.

So not very good for the environment but mse. 🤔
