Thats £400 worth of interest the bank won't be getting from you! I know it is a cliche but every little helps...... Once SMP is done with and your OH is back at work you will be able to start again - I know that once I go on maternity leave the overpayments will have to stop so I don't think I am going to reach my goal this year either. Keep dropping in though Hawksmuir - there will be a grand total done in December for all of us for the whole year and your overpayment will be part of that total!:T

I will try and make it the round £500 at least.

Remember that your mortgage is a long term commitment and while it is great to be able to shorten the term you should not do this at the expence of day to day living.
You could get youself a mortgage pig and keep it going until the years end so that if the adjustment to your lower total income becomes difficult you will have a back-up and if you do not have to use it you can throw it at your mortgagein December.

Thats me done for this year £400 out of a pledge of £1,000.

Can't afford any more, as the reality of my wife being on SMP has finally hit home.

Good Luck to everyone that can stick to this.

Don't be disheartened, lots of people stop paying mortgage altogether while on maternity and let the interest build up. With your MS experience at least you can be sensible with your money while enjoying your family.:A Best Wishes for you all!

I haven't been able to post much recently, but I am still hard at work paying off my mortgage. This month, we've managed to over pay £316.01.

We have calculated that after dh gets his pay rise in september, we should be able to increase our overpayment by £150 a month.

Any pay rise I get will also go towards the mortgage, but we're not sure how much that will be yet.
Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j
  • Another mortgage payment made today - usual payment plus £207.26 overpayment, so my balance is now £43,167.83. It feels so good to see those figures come down!!:T
