    hi Folks

    Poppyoscar reporting in!

Travel expenses for January, received Feb, amount to £261 so that's my starting figure for ovepayments this month.:D

Only thing is, when I overpayed my previous amount, I was charged £10 by Halifax as an admin charge. Is this normal? Can I avoid this in anyway? And who can do the maths to say how much I should put by before I pay in (if I have to pay £10) to make it profitable - if i have to pay £10 every month, that's £120 that isn't paid off my mortgage, so I'll save it up, but that kind of knocks the momentum on the head, and takes the satisfaction out of the whole process.

SPL - 30p bag of onions = lots of yummy French Onion Soup!!!!!!!

    have cheap month everyone!!

    PO

I think it might be worth searching this forum and if it hasn't been mentioned before then posting a new thread. Does sound a bit off too me....

Hi All, the grand total is fantastic amazing what mutual support can do for determination - I really should join Weight Watchers!

Posting is what is keeping me focused. I know that I am lucky in comparison with many. I only have myself to worry about and I have a well paid job that I love but like many I have had enormous debts in the past (£22000 with nothing to show for it, finally down to £2000 on interest free which will be all paid off by September). Really using this site has moved me from pathetic ignorance and financial passivity to actively planning what I do with my money. This year I aim to get below £150k on my mortgage and learn to drive and buy a car next year. No debts and driving feels like real freedom to me.
  • Hi everyone,

I made my March overpayment today of £96.95. Thats now £266.35 towards my annual target. I asked HSBC about my interest rate. I was expecting it to fall after the BOE reduced rates again last month, but HSBC will no be honouring this. My mortgage is discounted at 0.46% below the banks standard variable rate and they have decided not to drop this in line with the BOE. This has made me really cross. Cant wait until my deal ends in October and I can find a decent provider!

well thought i'd make a last post before going on my hols (yay:j ) it was one of the buisiest days of the year for me yesterday as i'm a restaurant manager but everyone was fed and watered and i made lots of money for the big bosses in the sky. Unfortunately i'm on a set salary and so the 20!!! hours that i did on top of my normal 50 hours last week probably went un noticed. But i don't care cos i'm off for a week now, (anyway i,m waffling). I heard the OH on the phone yesterday boasting to one of his friends that we will be morgage free before we're 40 if we keep going at the rate we are (funny he didn't mention the fact that i have to wrestle any extra money that he as at the end of the month out of his hands whilst he lies on the floor kicking and screaming like a 2 yr old:rolleyes: ) but i think he apreciates what we're trying to do, and it's all thanks to the motivation of this site and the support of this thread:beer: my DD out of the bank today for my set £200 overpayment for march so the challenge is on for me to overpay by at least £50 at the end of the month. see you all later guys:T

Well my overpayment this month has dropped my mortgage below £40k to £39805.27. It feels like a real milestone and I am well chuffed. My rainy day savings are creeping closer to that magic £1000 mark - as soon as I get to it I will be able to throw all spare money at the overpayment fund. So all in all a good couple of days for me too. I love the start of the month when I can update my sig.
