What a fantastic motivation for overpayment! Have you looked into how much an extension would cost verses moving? I suppose with the housing market as it is an extension might be a safer bet????
    Thanks :)

We've had an initial look into it, and for a (small) 3 bedroomed house, it would be anything from £130k upwards (but a lot more choice from £150k upwards). That would mean increasing our mortgage by at least £30k, but we would also have to pay out £5k for estate agents, conveyancing, moving costs etc.

So if the extension can come in at around £35k or less (which I hope it can :o ), I will be more than happy, because I like our house (small overall but the rooms are a good size and nicely proportioned), our street and (most of) our neighbours.

We have an architect working on some draft plans for us as we speak, so I'll let you know!

  • Hi everyone, we are off to Nat west tomorrow where our challenge will begin, we have 18 years left on our mortgage and 88000 owing plus £61000 of loans which we have invested in homes overseas, tomorrow we are opening up a nat west one account, we will put loans and mortgage together and do the repayment over 8 years, then we hope this will decrease to 4 years by
offsetting additional monies, its going to be a bit of a ride but as i turn 50 in december, we are determined to be clear before i retire nicci
