Witness Statement Stage

  • Thank you.

A couple of last questions I wanted to ask:

    1. I know I need to send the WS by email. I have only found one email address on the court's website which is a generic 'enquiries@...' email address. Will this be sufficient or should I contact them to try to find an email address for a specific department? I just want to make sure it definitely gets to the right person.

    2. I recently got married and, while still using my maiden name for unofficial personal and work purposes, I have officially changed my surname to my partner's surname on my passport and with the DVLA. Should I continue to use my maiden name in this claim since that's the name the claimant and court have me under, or should I write the WS in my married name and add a note to explain the different surname? I don't know if there could be any repercussions for failing to disclose my new 'legal' surname if they were to find out I've changed it.

1 phone call tomorrow, always double check

2 use the name on the claim form, add a paragraph about the change of name and why

  • Good news!

I received my NoD this morning, without even having to submit my witness statement.

Thank you all for your help and for the info you provide on this forum.

    Cheers!

Thank you @Guy_Incognito2025 for the copy of your NoD . I can now get this counted in the DCBL Legal thread of shame. 👍

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
