Morning everyone
I've had a man here replacing smoke alarms - bit embarrassing as I'd asked to be the first job of the day, but I had just got up when he knocked on the door. I had to shout out the window and quickly put my contact lens in! He was finished in 5 minutes.
Hopefully the man building my summer house will come today, he was here last night checking where I want the windows, but his van has broken down so it depends on whether he has it back. There's not really any great hurry, I'm just wanting to get on doing my planters and getting it all tidy.
Lovely afternoon at nursery yesterday, out in the sunshine watching the children enjoy the climbing frame and slide. Little one was outside with her class playing tag rugby - she declared she loved it!
No work today, I need to go down to mam and dads then for a little bit shopping, then I'm going for coffee with my friend this afternoon. Then a sit in the sun with my book - we're forecast heavy rain tomorrow afternoon, so I'll make the most of it.
I've always fancied going on a cruise too.
Coxy at least you now know not to go on a Tuesday
Camelot I hope your little one is better soon
Gers 5 hours is a long time for an exam!
Right best get on, hope everyone enjoys the sunshine today x11 -
Good morning all and thanks @Gers for the start, I'm pleased to hear the better weather appears to have arrived where you are. Yesterday was very warm indeed, today promises to be even more so (25 deg) but I'm not complaining.
I'd almost given up hope of the plumber arriving yesterday but he arrived at about 4.15 pm, with apologies for tardiness, and fixed the dripping tap in 10 minutes so that's another job done and dusted. I wish I could say the same for the wall washing! I'm on the last stretch but won't be doing much (if any) of it today as my knee is complaining again. I can probably manage the bottom part of the wall but the top bit will either have to wait or I'll have to ask DS to finish it off.
SM delivery is due between 11 and 12, all P&C, which I'm pleased about as I'm almost out of teabags, fresh fruit, eggs and cheese. Once that's put away, I have two books to return to the Little Free Library, one of which I hadn't realised I've read before - and fairly recently at that.I may as well do the weekly Co-op run at the same time as I want to take advantage of their freezer offer - oven chips, fish fingers, battered fish, peas and ice cream filled lollies for £6, normal price £11-odd. Their prices are always a bit dearer than other SMs but this is one saving worth having. After that I think it will be feet up time to rest the old knee.
Good deed for today was letting two neighbours know who had blocked their cars in with a large van. It belongs to a garden company who service a nearby property; I can hear their hedge trimmers as I type but I think they've nearly finished. They seem to come early doors before the school run starts as parking around here is abysmal at the best of times. Anyway, van moved and problem solved.
@TA - Your poor friend, she must be devastated. If your cataract op is anything like mine, the actual procedure after the initial assessment will be booked in quickly too. Enjoy your trip to Skipton today.
@Chrisca - Wonderful as the NHS is, why is it GPs and hospitals haven't quite mastered the art of communication? Just think how many additional appointments might not be needed if they did. Best wish to you and your DH for a successful outcome.
I'm just watching the toddler who lives upstairs - he's outside (with his Mum) picking dandelion clocks and blowing the seeds about, something all children take delight in. It doesn't seem two minutes since mine used to do that 40-odd years ago. How time flies.
Hugs where needed or wanted, enjoy your day and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all, sunny here too. Missed out one phone call yesterday but as that was a complaining one I can do it today [ am waiting for a return to be picked up for a month] . Two birds with one stone too, I need some fence posts for raising up my new to me greenhouse so got a price list from the place i donated a strimmer and leaf blower to, pretty reasonable and they also deliver which is good. Today I am going to potter, it's time to go to the allotment, the weeds will be taking over. Shame it's not time to plant everything out because that'll keep them down.TA, poor thing...Ruby, hope you get some sleep tonight. Gers, five hours! blimey...Chris, thats been a while going on, fingers crossed for swifter resolution. camelot, well done you, my kitchen is still full...Izzy, a cruise! woop woop! that's come around quick, when do you go? Allie, hares? wow,I am envious
Coxy, yeah, screaming kids put me off anything they're near [ not the most popular opinion but that's another reason I never had any] .Yorkslass, well spotted who was driving the van! Take care all, looks like another good here, hope it is with you too...
