Edf essential 1yr may25 ending octpus or bg
Hi
Just seen deal on latest email for bg fix 12 month deal which made me go have a look on the energy club.
I entered my expected gas (12761kwh) and electricity (3925.1) readings expecting the bg one to be top but I see that
Bg has following £165 /mth £1,985 /yr
Ovo energy 1yr fixed + boiler £163 /mth £1,960 /yr
Based on this ovo deal is best by a whole 5 quid. I see that over electricity unit cost are more but they are cheaper for gas.
Guess my question is what is the better company or the best one to go for? I don't have boiler cover af present which bonus but my boiler is 14 year old so might not be covered i guess.
Thanks

Do you have to pay extra for the boiler cover?I came across one a few months ago that was better on the unit rates and standing charges, but you had to pay for the boiler cover included in the "deal".Can't remember who that was with though. It would have to be free energy to tempt me back to BG. Ugh.I see far fewer complaints about Ovo on these forums, than BG.(For transparency, I'm currently with Octopus.)

Full details can be seen https://corgihomeplan.co.uk/boiler-cover/
Taken from newsletter "It's worth noting the very cheapest dual-fuel fix is the Ovo 1 Year Fixed+ Boiler Cover, which is 16.6% less than the current Price Cap, but to get that price you must also get its £17/mth boiler cover. This tariff will be included in your comparison too"0 -
British Gas treat gas and electric as two separate accounts even if you have both with them. Might be worth looking at which element is cheaper and going with both? So far, I've found BG cheaper for electric. They also have a long fix v31 for gas which I've just switched to which is only £5 a year more than my current deal.0

I switched to bg with the boiler cover it was going to be more.
I rather have peace of mind of a fixed price than wait and see how fixed market goes.
Hopefully bg get a cheaper deal post July announcement....I can live in hope0 -
I am in process of moving to fuse for electricity. Gas remaining with octopus until fuse start gas in June1
