Actually getting my pension!

I want to start receiving my pension, as I'm well past NRA. I know what my pension should be, but I need a 'retirement pack', which I requested at the beginning of March. It's now almost May, and it still hasn't arrived.
It's a DB plan, and the employer is AON.
Are there any service standards the scheme needs to work to, or can they keep this up more or less indefinitely?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Otherwise give them a ring: 0345 601 0876 and ask when you can expect your pack.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -

Typically you start the process about 6 months before wanting to commence as you know you are talking about months as a service standard and not days or weeks.
You keep chasing them until you feel its getting silly and you then raise a complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.1 -

That's why I wouldn't go on chasing 'until it's getting silly' - frustration on both sides will build up with no guarantee anything will actually be done.
OP, have you actually pinned them down to the timeframe to which they are working? If not, that is worth a further phone call. If they then miss that deadline, I'd ask them for a copy of the scheme's Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure. Simply requesting that often has a magical impact on timescales...Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
I had similar when I retired last year. I felt like the administrators were fobbing me off. As above, once they had passed their deadline and I complained, things started moving. The whole process really did take nearly 6 months.1

Do you mean that you were employed by AON and are a deferred member of AON's pension scheme?
OR you were employed by another company whose pension scheme is administered by AON?

The administrator's not WTW is it?
I had 3 work pensions all administered by WTW. And I know that each was handled by a difference team. 1 team would answer within a couple of days. 1 would take a couple of weeks. And the other would take several weeks and then either send me something irrelevant or in a form that I couldn't open. I always asked for replies by snail mail but the third team would take a few attempts, a few months and would require me to ring several times to follow up. It does sound like the process is glacially slow.

It's also worth clarifying how this 'retirement pack' will be delivered - for some reason I was expecting mine (from a different company scheme) by post and only spotted after some delay that I had actually been sent it by e-mail .....1
