British Gas overcharging

Hi we have been with British Gas dual fuel for 25 years since we moved into our our current house , we always found our bill very high especially electric and have been paying £330 per month and always in debit, we recently moved to eon next and had smart meters installed , we are now paying £140 per month, nothing has changed in the house same amount of people etc and we are always in credit, is the anyway we can get British Gas to check our past consumption, any help or advice would be great.

Have you got copies of BG bills, and details of meter reads you gave them. £s are no use to compare, you need kWh figures to compare. That is the way to start your investigation, but since you have changed supplier and meters it is going to be an uphill battle to get BG to do anything .

It may be that eon.next is wrong.

When did you switch to eon.ext?

When the Smarts were installed they would have read 0000.0   -  what are the readings now?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

It's also possible that your old meters were faulty, but they'll be in a WEEE skip somewhere by now so there's no way of knowing.
