Dementia & sky tv

Hi all my dad has advanced dementia and still at home with mum looking after him, mum has power of attorney and is looking into their sky package which is in dads name and comes out of his account, they don't get paper bills anymore so we haven't got the account number or what email address it is linked to, how do we either close the sky account or change the name on the sky account  any advice really appreciated.

Maybe sort out the power-of-attorney with them and then work out how to actually access the  account?
is there no way to reset the password on his email so that you can access it? How many email addresses has he got? Has your mum checked to see whether he’s still automatically logged into them on whatever he used to use to access the system?

Easiest way would be just to ring up and pretend to be him, and see if the account is out of contract first of all.

That’s going to go well when they ask for the account number and security details, isn’t it?

You think the son wont know his dads date of birth etc? He can just say hes lost everything, they can find the account from the landline number, address etc etc. Can just claim to be a bit doddery and cant remember any security word. Always a way around things.

Hang on.How is it being paid? Direct debit?

Check the bank account. My Sky money comes out by DD and it has the account number for Sky listed in Payee Details.

This is a completely morbid suggestion, last year my mother died and my parents account was under her name, I phoned Sky’s bereavement number on my fathers behalf and had the account transferred to his name, there was no security questions, they didn’t even ask for proof of her passing it was a simple 10 minute process, I’m fully aware how weird and just wrong this suggestion is but it could be the simplest way.
