An issue with my Apple account

Assuming the phone is online, or as soon as it comes online -

The device will lock immediately with the passcode 
Any message you've previously set will be shown, e.g. "I'm lost, please call 01234 567890"
The device’s location is sent to Apple, and you can track it.
Any sensitive data, such as Apple Pay cards, are suspended automatically.
Notifications and alerts won’t appear on the lock screen to protect privacy.

To enable all of the above, make sure in your settings Control Panel cannot be opened on the Lock Screen - else they can put it in AirPlane mode to take it offline 

Also check the phone's FindMy is turned on with all the sub options which will mean it will continue to track and send its location even if the phone is off and will store the last known location online if the battery totally dies or if the phone is moved into a place without cell reception.

Thanks for that Vitor.  I don't want to test this until I have all the facts here.
If I did go ahead and 'Lock' the phone in the way that you describe, would I then be able to 'Unlock' it on my own just as easily?  Or would I need the intervention of someone at Apple?

Assuming you have access to the phone and know both its lock screen pin and your AppleID & Password then it's totally self serve.
