Help comparing two laptops

Hi all,
I'm looking for a new laptop, ideally something quite high performance for productivity. I don't game etc. and would mainly be looking to use it for studying. I've had HP for years and would like to stick with this brand ideally. Also looking for something small (14") and light so I can carry it around easily.
The two that I am considering at the moment are these:
1) https://www.costco.co.uk/Computers/Laptops-MacBooks/HP-Pavilion-Plus-Intel-Core-Ultra-5-16GB-RAM-512GB-SSD-14-Inch-Laptop-14-ew1006na/p/515528
2) https://www.hp.com/gb-en/shop/product.aspx?id=A2SA2EA&opt=ABU&sel=NTB
Both are on quite a decent offer at the moment. I have looked through the tech specs and they seem largely similar (as a non-tech savvy person), aside from the 2nd one having a touchscreen & flipscreen. Are these generally reliable? Having never had this before, I wondered whether there was more to go wrong with this potentially.
Any advice on choosing between these two, or any other options that I should consider, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I think the latter might be overkill for studying and is probably more geared towards graphics design, especially with the features and OLED display.
With what you describe, any i5 CPU, 16GB ram, 256GB+ SSD would be sufficient, I expect you could pick up a laptop that meets your needs for half the price of the lines you've linked.
HP is a reliable brand (my work laptop is HP and is still going strong after 9 hours of use every day for 6 years) however Lenovo, ASUS, etc are also good, I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. I don't have a HP at home.
EDIT: cpubenchmark.net is a very useful resource for comparing different CPU's (as I appreciate the names aren't very helpful on their own).
Comparing the two CPU's you linked, for example: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/5777vs5840Know what you don't1 -

TBH, I'd look at a refurbished HP Elitebook with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7, 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. Very light, very robust. I use one for OU studies.1
