Temporary insurance - Year vs 28 days
Planning on insuring our old car after getting it back after it needed fixed. We bought a replacement so transferred my existing policy to the new car.
Il likely use it for a week and try selling it. I priced temporary coverage for a month which was £250. Pricing a full year policy worked out £450.
T&C's stated a £10 cancellation policy and £50 admin outside of cooling off period on the full policy.
Surely the full policy is the way to go... if I sell within 14 days I just pay the £10 plus cost for those days. Or am I missing something?

Yes, if you make a claim or someone tries to claim from you then you pay for the full year where the short term
policy is only for a set number of days.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
...and what if it doesn't sell quickly?
Remember, also, it must legally be insured AT ALL TIMES that it's taxed.1 -
28 days is a long time, in temporary insurance terms. You can get insurance for an hour now. Probably much cheaper to get a week, then SORN and cancel the insurance when its for sale (and not offer a test drive) assuming you're selling privately.0

If you have off road parking, then SORN it.nire said:Planning on insuring our old car after getting it back after it needed fixed. We bought a replacement so transferred my existing policy to the new car.

You won't be able to cancel it if there is a claim is the main thing.nire said:Planning on insuring our old car after getting it back after it needed fixed. We bought a replacement so transferred my existing policy to the new car.

Have you asked your current insurers about adding the vehicle to your existing policy as a Temporary Additional Vehicle?2
