Universal Credit Transitional Protection Payment When does it end

I migrated from WTC last March. Reported at the time that we had savings of over £16k and still do. Our first payment was on 29th March 2024 and have received 13 payments since then, latest will be 29th April 2025 for £12. Just wondering when does Universal credit stop or do I just request to close my claim. I was under the impression that Transitional protection payment only lasted for 12 assessment periods. If anyone can please advice. I also get Scottish ADP at both the higher rates just wondering if this has an impact on it.

Are you sure that you actually have over £16K in "savings/capital"?It's probably going to come down to just how much over £16k.We often see posters who are mistakenly counting their monthly income as being part of their savings.Remember that monies (income) such as ADP received this month are not savings unless unspent by the time you receive it again next month. The unspent part then becomes savings. There are also various other things that can be disregarded as not being classed 'savings' (Cost of Living payments, some benefit backpayments, and so on).0

No, monthly income was seperate and reported savings of £20k which has not changed since then.0

How much capital do your statements say you have, and is there a £174 deduction on them?
Check your first statement, and also your most recent one.1 -
£20k capital and £174 deduction on the first and last, total joint earnings per statements are £2400 per month0

Have you received a UC payment amount every month for more than 12 months from the start date? This is what you appear to say, but checking if you meant that 13 UC statements had been issued. If some of the monthly statements paid you zero, then the transition protection period may still be ongoing.
However, it would not surprise me if an error had occurred. If UC are in error and end up paying when they should not have done so, you could be building up an overpayment debt you have to pay back. So I would suggest you send a journal message to query this. And if no response within 5 days, you should call UC helpline.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Yes payments every month and some have been zero. I will send a journal message. Thanks for the information.0

If some have been zero then you’re still in the Capital transitional protection window. After 12x UC Awards (£0 UC Award doesn’t count) you’ll get a task asking to review your Capital, and then if still over 16k the “13th” UC Award onwards will nil as Capital TP will be removed.2
