Tracing lost/forgotten pensions

Tried Gretal and Government tracing page. Although Gretal shows old addresses, nothing else. Government tracing page not helpful either. Too difficult trying to trace if I have any old pensions lying around.

3. What information do you have, that can assist you in finding a lost pension?

I am in similar position when the pension changes happened around 2002 and I have tried various above no help any ideas surely they can trace through NI no ?0
