Travel insurance not starting in the UK

My daughter will be working in the USA over the summer. She has employment medical insurance and working holiday insurance for her travels.  However, at the end of her time - we are meeting her and going on a family cruise together from the USA.  It is proving impossible to find insurance to cover her for this week as the trip does not start or end in the UK.  Does anyone have any tips or guidance please? Thank you.

Two companies used to offer cover for this kind of situation: Nomads and True Traveller.

So you talking about insurance for you or her?

Assuming she hasn't left the UK yet then her USA Travel Insurance should be changed to be USA + which other countries the cruise goes to and cruising.

For you, you just need travel insurance for your complete trip including US, which ever areas you are going to and cruising.

It's one continuous trip even if there are multiple stages on it.

because they are looking at a UK insurer and trying to insure it as a seperate trip. They say they have insurance for her wider trip and so that should be adjusted to cover the cruise aspect of the trip.

That type of policy may not be possible to extend for a holiday.

if you google travel insurance when already abroad, a few companies come up.
