Full refund for a faulty EV Charger

I recently purchased an EV charger from Scottish Power and within 30 days the device failed and I raised an issue with Scottish Power. They wanted to go through a process to determine if the Charger was faulty, which I fully understand, however, I asked for the Charger to be removed and for a full refund. They are refusing to do this and say that I have to allow them to fix the charger under the warranty. I do not want this remedy for the problem and wish to exercise my right under the Short Term Right to Reject the installation and charger within 30 days. Does anyone know why in this instance I cant ask them to remove the charger and refund the cost?

Who installed the charger?
As while you bought a charger. If they installed it then you also have a service part as well which would not be refundable.Life in the slow lane0 -
Just to expand on @born_again's post:
The installation must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
If it is not, for example they have fitted it in a location which is not accessible, they are entitled to come back and have another go at doing it correctly such as relocating it.
You can't reject the charger just on your say-so or your opinion. The seller is entitled to examine it to confirm that it was faulty at the time when it was supplied. They would not have to do anything if for example the fault is that you are doing something wrong or your mains supply can't deliver enough current.
If they repair or replace it, they do have to cover the costs of doing so.

Seems an over the top reaction assuming you still need an EV charger. The labour costs of installing the wiring would have formed a good chunk of the costs, are you expecting it to be left in place and get a full refund?0
