Transferring money to a Financial Institution

I have recently opened a savings account with the Post Office - via a link in the savings advice page on this website/site.
When I tried to set up a payment into the PO account from my Nat West account, it told me the the account payee name is unconfirmed. As I had use the the link from MSE and I knew I had the correct account number and sort code,I did a £10 transfer just to test and this has arrived in the PO account.
The account name is still showing as unconfirmed though and I called the PO who told me that my bank won't recognise the name as the PO is a financial institution rather than a bank. I have a larger amount that I want to transfer to the PO account but am still a little nervous.

Has anyone else come across this issue please?

Yes, you get that with a lot of non-clearing bank accounts.
Remember, for the last 25 years the payment systems didn't even have the capability to identify the recipient account, we all just had to be careful entering the digits. Same thing applies here.2 -

As payment goes to a holding account & then internally transferred to your account.
So confirmation of payee does not work in these cases.Life in the slow lane2
