Morning all. The sun is shining, the sky is a deep cloudless blue and there's just a gentle breeze - we could get up to 17 deg today, maybe a shower or two in the afternoon.
I walked up to the Co-op yesterday to buy milk and a TV guide and was seduced by an offer on tins of tuna steaks; they weren't on my list but the offer was too good to miss and they're a good addition to stores. Next I took the returns parcel to the PO. I was intending to pop my head round the hairdresser's door, next door but one, to ask if she'd made any progress on finding a new venue but she was closed. Then I remembered her normal closing day is Monday so she'd obviously taken yesterday off in lieu.
I enjoyed the walk and the exercise - the weather was pleasantly warm, no need for a coat. On the wildflower verge along the main road there were lots of cowslips, a few daffodils, some purple flowers (not sure what they are) and a solitary bellis daisy that must have self seeded. The pink and white cherry blossom trees are in full bloom with crab apple blossoms appearing too and the blackbirds were in fine voice. All food for the soul and a welcome boost to well-being.
Today I shall be starting the decorating prep of washing down living room walls and woodwork; it definitely won't all get done today - there's no rush but if I don't make a start it won't get done at all! I have sugar soap, sponge, bucket, stepladder and marigolds at the ready - just need to take the plunge. Tea tonight is a haddock fishcake, green salad and the last of the braised red cabbage.
@Scarlet - I hope DH's radiotherapy goes well, hugs to you both.
@camelot - IT systems have a lot to answer for - glitches always seem to happen when you least want them to, not an ideal start to the new working week.
@Izzy - Your yard is lovely, an oasis to enjoy.
@TA - The next week will seem to drag for your friend waiting for news of what her DS's consultant has to say - fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Right, I can't put this prep off any longer so I'll wish you all a good day. Take care, hugs where needed. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Morning all, yesterday the sun decided to come out but this morning it's soggy and damp after a lot of heavy rain last night.
We sorted out Dad's new TV yesterday afternoon, then he wanted his ceiling light cleaned but tbh I think it's shot as there's hardly any light coming from it after cleaning. I had to empty out his fridge too as there were some mouldy green sausage rolls in there 🤢, so that's 2 fridges cleaned out in as many days.
Today I'm a bit slow and can't get going so I'll just potter about, there is some ironing in the basket but nothing that can't wait, I'll see how I go.
Izzy lovely photo, hope you get some sun this summer and can sit out and enjoy it.
Scarlet gentle hugs to your DH, I hope the 4 weeks whizz by.

Made it back home in great time and without any hold ups. The mechanic put my car on the ramps to have a good look but didn't find anything wrong, or a stone. So...at least I know that it's nothing nasty. My gardener was still here so we've had a good long chat and catch up. She's cut the lawn (so happy), trimmed the edges and cleared up all the left-over debris from last years bloomings. I could now more easily reach the back of the garden so will need to tidy up the blown-over stuff. Not today though!8
